Ganesan said that the person who sent the letter, claiming to be a member of a 'Save City Group', had said in the letter that the globally banned terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda was planning to attack major buildings and other vital installations in the city, including Kamalalayam.

"The writer of the letter has not issued any direct threat but has said that they had information about the attacks. Since we wanted to alert the police immediately, we handed over the letter to Letika Saran today," he said.

When contacted, Letika Saran assured that proper action would be initiated on the matter.
