The Election Commission today issued notices to BSP general secretary and a state minister for alleged violation of code of conduct.
According to Bansgaon constituency returning officer PK Srivastava, during a public meeting here on Wednesday, state minister Rajesh Tripathi had honoured BSP general secretary Satish Misra by offering him a golden 'Janeu', a sacred thread usually worn by upper castes on their abdomen.
"The EC has treated it as undesired display of wealth and social order as the 'Janeu' was made of gold," Srivastava said, adding that the duo has been asked to submit their reply by April 13.
