Presiding over the dharna, Dr Ghanshyam Singh said the university administration seemed to have a tacit understanding with the college authorities and was, therefore, trying to dilute the issue. Instead of lodging an FIR against the college principal and teachers, the university authorities had registered an FIR against flying squad members, he said.
Members of the association raised slogans against university officials. Association vice- president Bhagwan Singh said the attack on the members of the flying squad in the degree college was a significant issue and it was the result of privatisation of higher education. They pledged to struggle for cancellation of the registration of the college.
Former president of the association HN Singh said GUACTA members were part of the university flying squad. Therefore, it was the moral duty of the university authorities to provide security to the flying squad. He alleged the examination controller was hand in glove with the Hariharpur Degree College administration.
GUACTA president Dr Kripa Shanker Singh said university authorities would not be able to muffle the voice of teachers who were ready to step up their agitation.
Association members Shrishmani Tripathi, Paramhans Tripathi, Dharmdev Singh and Ajay Pratap Shahi and others said the university authorities had cancelled the Hariharpur examination centre on April 27, but the college administration held the examination on April 27, 28 and 29.
They demanded a judicial inquiry into entire incident and said a delegation of GUACTA members would hand over a memorandum to the Governor for registering an FIR against the principal of the APN College.
