In an emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of Ravinder Gupta, members of the association unanimously elected Bharat Bushan as its new president.

Bharat Bushan will replace Rakesh Gupta, who had been presiding over the association since 2008, to frame the new body of the association within a week's time. As per the members of the association, Gupta's removal from the post of president came in the wake of his alleged failure to address the problems faced by the trader community during the Kishtwar riots.
