Rajasthan Royals slim hopes of qualifying for the playoffs ended on Friday as the Deccan Chargers recorded a five-wicket win.
An impressive bowling performance by Deccan Chargers restricted Rajasthan Royals to 126/8. Chargers chased down the target after a late stutter with five wickets in hand and eight balls to go.
Dale Steyn's 2/14, Amit Mishra's 2/20 and a fine display by other bowlers reduced the visitors to the lowest score this season. Electing to bat after winning the toss on what looked to be a good batting track, Rajasthan's top-order had no answers for the home team's disciplined bowling attack.
Barring captain Rahul Dravid (39 off 26) and Owais Shah (28 off 32), who showed some resistance, none of the batsmen could withstand the fiery spells by Steyn, Mishra and Gony (1/26). Veer Pratap Singh also chipped in with 2/31.
Akshath Reddy top-scored for Chargers with 42, and provided a solid 63-run opening wicket stand to set the hosts up for the chase.
