Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal staged a demonstration at the Trade Tax office and burnt the copies of Form-31 to express their resentment over the new scheme.

According to district president of the Vyapar Mandal Raj Kumar Gupta, earlier they had to purchase the form for Rs 1 to import goods of any value. But now under the new scheme, they would have to specify the amount of goods to be imported from other states and would have pay the fee of the form according to the value of the goods.

On the occasion, a memorandum addressed to the chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was also handed over to Additional Commissioner, Trade Tax.

They demanded that the new scheme be amended or be dropped as it would cause problem in maintaining records. Besides, this would discourage other states to sell their goods to UP traders due to legal hindrances. On the occasion, a ‘Sandesh Yatra’ was also taken out by the traders to spread awareness about the difficulties in accepting the new procedure of Form-31.

Meanwhile, senior member of the Kanpur Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Gyanesh Mishra said they were against the new procedures imposed by the State Government. “

From-31 will be discussed at the two-day conference of the Vyapar Mandal,” Mishra said.

He said state-wide protests would be held against the new rules relating to Form-31, Mishra added.

Meanwhile, trader leader associated with the Samajwadi Party Surendra Mohan Aggarwal assured traders that the new set of rules for the issuing of Form-31 would be withdrawn.

He also advised traders not to accept the new form.
