Congmen pay tributes to Nehru

CONGRESSMEN PAID homage to the first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on his 42nd death anniversary on Saturday. Congress Legislative Party leader Pramod Tewari along with other Congress workers visited Anand Bhawan and offered floral tributes at the portrait of late prime minister. Speaking on the occasion, Tewari said, one of the greatest contributions of Pt Nehru was that he laid the foundation of a secular India.

Congress Legislative Party leader Pramod Tewari along with other Congress workers visited Anand Bhawan and offered floral tributes at the portrait of late prime minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Tewari said, one of the greatest contributions of Pt Nehru was that he laid the foundation of a secular India. Nehru was not only the architect of modern India, but also leader of non-aligned movement and industrial revolution. He also urged the Congressmen to unit against terrorism.

UPCC spokesman Kishore Varshney conducted the meeting. Among those who paid tribute to Nehru, included UPCC general secretary Ram Yagya Dwivedi, ex-MLA Vijay Prakash, Jitendra Nath Singh, Kishore Varshney, Sudhakar Tiwari, Nadeem Khalid, Harikesh Tripathi, Prof Yamuna Pandey, Fuzail Hashmi, Syed Imtiyaz Husain, Mukund Tewari, Suresh Vidharthi, Raj Kumar Tripathi, Shiv Baran Yadav, Kesav Lal, Ashok Verma and many others.

Meanwhile, activists of the Congress traders’ cell observed the death anniversary of Nehru as ‘Social Equality Day’. Speaking on the occasion, Shaukat Ali said that Nehru was anti-caste system and always supported the cause of social equality. Meeting was presided by Sushil Chandra Gupta.

Activists of the Rajiv Gandhi Jan Kalyan Samaj Sevi Sanstha led by Khunnu Lal Agrahari also observed the death anniversary and paid tributes to Nehru at Anand Bhawan today.
