Addressing a public meeting in Doongi block in Rajouri district along with Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik, Khan said the Article was a historical necessity.

Khan further said the reactionary tendencies of BJP and PDP are trying to incite regional passions for political gains.

Khan said Congress would continue to provide an inclusive platform to all regions and communities for equitable growth.

Mukul Wasnik said Congress is the only secular and pro-people party which started many public welfare schemes.

"The people of the state should give a befitting reply to any attempt of communal polarisation and also to erosion of the special status of
the state," he said.

Shabir Khan said communal polarisation helped the BJP in the parliamentary election and called for the trend to be reversed in the state.
