When Connaught Place gets a facelift, its old-world charm will be retained. But it will not offer the familiar leisurely grubs from the house of Nirula's at the age-old outlet in L block.
According to the company, the present Nirula's outlet will be shut down soon and shifted to the N and K blocks. "Nirula's in its current location will close in a phased manner by end of November," a statement from the company read.
Built in the 1940s, the Nirula's restaurant in L block is as much a part of the heritage as anything that bears the classic CP flavour. Currently, the Nirula's in CP is a combination of Nirula's Family Style Restaurant, an ice-cream parlour, a pastry shop, and Pot Pourri Restaurant.
"While CP Nirula's Family Style Restaurant, Ice Cream Parlour and Pastry Shop will shortly reopen in K Block by mid-January, the Pot Pourri Restaurant will shift to N Block by February end," said Sangeeta spokeswoman for the company.
"We promise to be back with a bang very soon—with a brand new appearance and great locations very close to the current one," said JS Grover, Vice-President, Administration, Nirula's.
