CPI-M nominates TN leader Rangarajan for Rajya Sabha

The Tamil Nadu unit of the CPI-M names its central committee member TK Rangarajan as its nominees for the March 26 Rajya Sabha election.

The Tamil Nadu unit of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has named its central committee member TK Rangarajan as its nominees for the March 26 Rajya Sabha election.

Six Rajya Sabha seats from Tamil Nadu fall vacant this March. The state assembly has 234 seats and CPI-M has nine members in the house.

The DMK with 96 seats has nominated two for the Rajya Sabha. The opposition AIADMK with 66 seats is yet to name its candidate. With the CPI-M nomination, only the Congress is yet to name its two nominees who will complete the five seats for the ruling alliance.
