Cultural fest gets under way at Gorakhpur university

Kumar hoped the programme would be a milestone in the history of the university. He flagged off a cultural march past by students’ union office bearers and students of the university.
The marchers passed through Katchery crossing, Townhall, Indira Gandhi crossing and converged at Pant Park of the university, where teachers welcomed them.
The marchers also did a round of the university premises and were cheered by students.
Students of various degree colleges also participated in the programme. A dance by students and their colourful dress was the centre of attraction on the occasion.
Earlier, coordinator of the programme Prof Manoj Kumar Singh said students of all 85 affiliated colleges of the university would participate in the programme. But, on the first day, students of only a dozen colleges participated.
Twenty-two programmes will be organised in the cultural meeting.
Students’ union president Rajiv Pandey said the youth festival, ‘Samwad’, would bring about a positive change in the youth.
