Senior Superintendent of Police Shafkat Wattali ordered suspension of Assistant Sub-Inspectors Pritam Singh and Vicheter Singh and constables Abdul Rashid and Tufail Ahmed in connection with the death of Gujjar Noor Hussain in police lock-up on September 12.

The police picked up Hussain after non-bailable warrants were issued against him in a case.

He ate some powder-type medicine after telling police that he was ill. He was later taken to a hospital in Rajouri in a critical condition where he died.

Following his death, nearly 900 people of Chowdary Nar village blocked traffic on Sheri-Kashmir bridge and raised slogans against the police on Sunday.
