"We have already signed an MoU with British Company and hired service providers and experts to provide digital quality to our viewers," Lalli said.

"It has been planned to provide complete digital signals by 2017, for which a budgetary provision of Rs 924 crore has been made and work on the project is to begin soon," he said.

The first step towards meeting this goal was the announcement of the head-ends in the sky (HITS) policy by the government late last year, which gives cable operators an option to go for digital transmission of channels, he added.
