Dhawan, who hurt his fingers badly after an awkward slide on the boundary on the fourth day of the Mohali Test, will be out of action for six weeks.

In a statement, the BCCI said Gautam Gambhir, who was omitted from the initial squad for the series, was included but he was unavailable due to jaundice. The selection committee then picked Suresh Raina.

"Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the fourth Test after sustaining a fracture in his left hand. He will be out of action for six weeks," the BCCI said.

"The All India senior selection committee then added Gambhir and Raina to the squad. However, Gambhir has been diagnosed with jaundice. Gambhir will not take part in the Delhi Test as a result," the release added.
