DM stops salary of BSA, ABSAs

TAKING EXCEPTION to the dereliction of duty and non-implementation of the directives issued by district magistrate to the Basic Shiksha Adhikari and Assistant Basic Shiksha Adhikaris, district magistrate Dr Hariom stopped the salary of Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) and all the Assistant Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (ABSAs).

Besides, the district magistrate expressed satisfaction at the mid-day-meal scheme and attendance of students in schools.

Talking to mediapersons, Dr Hariom said in March 2005 the 19 teams of ABSAs verified the attendance of the students of 377 primary and junior high schools. The attendance was found satisfactory, he added. He said that in most primary schools, the infrastructure was not available.

Responding to a question regarding the implementation of National Rural Guarantee Programme Scheme in the district, he said that while the job cards to 35000 people were made available, 70,000 applications were received in the for job under these schemes.

He assured that in 1,233 gram panchayats of the district, the people having the job cards would be provided with work. He further said that those who would not get 100 days’ job under the schemes, would be provided with the minimum wages.

Expressing concern over the allocation of the funds for flood control to UP Project Corporation, the district magistrate said that the corporation was not bound to follow the guidelines issued by the district magistrate, as the corporation was an autonomous body.

He apprehended that lackadaisical attitude of corporation employees might increase the problems of irrigation and drainage department. Dr Hariom said that he would write to the government that the funds allocated for floods control should be diverted to irrigation department. The DM appealed to the non-government organisations to come forward and extend their cooperation in regarding anti-JE vaccination drive in the district.
