In this scorching heat, it’s tempting to down a cool drink forgetting it could be heavy on the calories or fizz. Instead, to help you stay healthy, Swad Shakti, the Ayurvedic restaurant at the Ayushakti Health Centre in Malad, which Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla have dropped in at, has introduced a Mocktail Festival that cools you down in a healthy way.

The mocktails, based on aryuvedic principles, are available in 17 varieties like Green Fantasy, Coconut Dream and Papaya Punch.Dr. Smita Naram, founder of the centre, came up with the idea and gave her own recipes to the chef.

Head Chef Manoj Ramesh Keni explains no ice or sugar has been used, as that goes against ayurvedic principles. Instead, the natural sugars of the juices have created sweetness and the juices themselves become natural coolants. The fruits, herbs and vegetables themselves are aryuvedic, he adds.

Rebecca Hanscombe, a Londoner, who was drinking the Green Fantasy, says: “It feels nice when you know that what you are drinking is not only cooling but also healthy.”
