Courses available
In France, either you can go for universities or specialized schools.

Universities
The universities or Grandes écoles offer general courses and professional courses. Any student who has completed the secondary school examination may qualify. Two categories of courses are offered:

General courses
These are divided into three cycles. Each cycle leads to a national degree:

First cycle: Two years undergraduate studies
Second cycle: Two to three years graduate studies
Third cycle: One to three years post graduate studies

Professional courses
These are offered at Instituts Universitaires Professionnalisés (IUP). The curriculum consists of three years of technical courses with a six month vocational training and practice in an international firm. The medicine, dental and pharmacology studies are offered in universities at the Faculty of Medical Studies. The duration of these courses are seven years.

Specialized School
France has both public and private specialized schools. As they enroll lesser students than universities, they are very choosy in their admission. They train students for careers in engineering, management, art, and architecture.

Expenses
Apart from the cost of living and admission and tution fees, there are compulsory medical insurance and language training.

Admission and Tuition fees
The admission fees vary from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 34,000 ( 150 - 300 € ) per annum for a course leading to a national diploma. The tuition fee at the Grandes écoles (competitive universities) are approximately Rs. 26,000 for public engineering schools. In case of private schools, it may vary from Rs 1,90,000-Rs 7,60,000.
