Film glamour appears to be on the wane in Andhra Pradesh, and several screen personalities have been denied nominations.

Film stars are now mainly forming part of the glitter of the campaign trail having been denied seats and are "being used as crowd-pullers", observers say.

"If Nagma and Roja have joined Congress and TDP adding colour to the electioneering quiver, it's like the new order taking place of the old one," they said.

Scores of film stars, including Jamuna, who once won the Rajahmundry seat on a Congress ticket, joined BJP on the election eve, but BJP went past all renominating Union Minister U Krishnam Raju from Narsapuram.

BJP has also dropped comedian-villain Kota Srinivasa Rao from Vijayawada east assembly seat.

Besides, Rao stars Jamuna, Suman, Sharat Babu and Naresh who joined the party and are now taking part in campaigning.

Vijayshanti, vice president of BJP women's wing, was named as Hyderabad candidate only to be withdrawn the next day. She was also kept in waiting to file papers from Bellary in case Priyanka Gandhi contest from there.

She finally settled down as star campaigner for BJP.
