The fire, which was suspected to have been caused due to electric short circuit, erupted in a room in the industries department on the second floor of the building, was doused by a fire engine before spreading, they said.

Some gadgets including a computer, a fax machine, an air cooler, a fan and some furniture were gutted.
The fire broke out even as panic gripped the adjacent assembly building after a snake was spotted inside the house.
