Flood alert in 5 Gujarat districts

Ahmedabad, Vadodra, Godhra, Anand and Kheda are on alert after release of 1.5 lakh cusecs of water from 3 dams.

An alert has been sounded in five districts of central Gujarat following the release of 1.5 lakh cusecs of water from three dams on Friday night.

Ahmedabad, Vadodra, Godhra, Anand and Kheda districts have been put on alert and fire brigade personnel were evacuating people from low-lying areas, official sources said.

Authorities have also cautioned people in and around Ahmedabad against the rising level of water in the Sabarmati river.
