Contrary to the ignominious defeat, Gowda a d his two sons suffered in 1999, this time round they have secured people's mandate.
While Gowda, who was humbled from Kanakapura at the hands of Congress candidate, emerged victorious from Hassan Lok Sabha seat, his eldest son HD Revanna and younger one HD Kumaraswamy won from Holenarasipura and Ramanagaram Assembly segments, respectively.
Interestingly, the father and son duo of HC Srikantaiah and HS Vijayakumar of Congress have lost from Hassan Lok Sabha and Shravanabelagola Assembly constituency, respectively.
It was a mixed bag of emotions for former Chief Minister S Bangarappa, who joined the BJP weeks before the polls.
While Bangarappa won the Shimoga Lok Sabha seat, his youngest son Madhu Bangarappa, contesting on BJP ticket, had to bite the dust at the hands of his own brother Kumar Bangarappa, a Congress nominee, in Soraba Assembly segment.
