The police have recovered one 12-bore gun and cartridges shells from the encounter spot. Sobran had allegedly played a key role in the much talked about Kamal Gupta murder earlier.

IG police Sanjay Rana suspected that two other members who managed to flee today were armed with mousers. The police had sighted three members of the gang but two managed to escape. Intense search for them in jungles by the police is on, said Rana.

Sobaran was an active members of Rambabu-Dayaram Gadaria gang which has unleashed a reign of terror in the entire region. After the elimination of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, the infamous Gadaria gang tops the security forces’ list. Police sources said that Sobaran became a dacoit in 2001 after killing Badri Ojha of Karyawati village in Belgadha police station.

He then migrated to Amla area on Shivpuri-Jhansi highway near his relative’s place. Around that time, Rambabu and Dayaram Gadaria gang had escaped from police captivity while on way to a court in Dabra.
