Mahatma Gandhi once said India that lives in its villages. Inspired by the Father of the Nation, students of the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur have decided to set out to villages and teach primary school children.
On Gandhiji’s birth anniversary, IIT students affiliated with the NGO Youth for Equality adopted a primary school at Bara Sirohi village in Kalyanpur.
They will visit the school everyday and teach “moral and practical lessons” to students from class one to six, spokesman for Youth for Equality, Chandrashekhar, said.
The IITians will also teach the schoolchildren English and other languages.
Educational aids will also be provided to the children through donations from fellow students, Chandrashekhar said.
