Geelani calls for shutdown on poll day

Hardline Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday called for a complete shutdown on November 25, the day polling will start for the first phase in Jammu and Kashmir.

Geelani asked people of Ganderbal and Bandipora districts to register protest "against manipulated elections, highhandedness of authorities and fresh arrest spree."

Fifteen assembly seats will go to polls on November 25 in the state. The elections are spread over five phases for the 87-member assembly.
