Geelani faction not to attend roundtable

The faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has rejected the invitation to attend the two-day roundtable to be held next week.

The hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday rejected the centre's invitation to attend the two-day roundtable on the Kashmir to be held in Srinagar next week.

"An invitation signed by Special Secretary GS Rajagopal of the Union Home Ministry was delivered to me at 8.30 am this morning, inviting me to the roundtable conference," Geelani told reporters.

"Since we consider the conference a futile exercise we have rejected the invitation," he said.
