According to the detailed project report (DPR) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the new Metro corridor will cater to about 40,000 commuters. The route will benefit passengers from Kaushambi, Vaishali, Vasundhara, Indirapuram, Delta-colonies and Sahibabad localities in Ghaziabad, said DMRC officials.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has received a communication on the chief minister’s schedule for the same. “She is scheduled to arrive here on July 9, to inaugurate the first Metro corridor,” said Narendra Kumar Chaudhary, GDA vice-chairman.
The elevated corridor with two stations — Kaushambi and Vaishali — has been built at a cost of R260 crore sanctioned by the GDA.
Officials said that two foot overbridges will also be built at the two stations. Besides, there will be parking spaces to accommodate 200 vehicles at Kaushambi and 100 vehicles at Vaishali.
However, there will not be any feeder bus service for the Metro commuters, said GDA officials.
“We have no plans to introduce feeder bus service for Metro commuters. If at all such bus service is needed, UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will provide it, as it has already done in Noida,” Chaudhary said.
