GOC-in-C on two-day city visit

LIEUTENANT GENERAL K Nagraj, PVSM, UYSN, ADC, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Command, arrived here on Monday on a two-day official visit to the Red Eagle Division, an army formation in Allahabad Cantonment.

LIEUTENANT GENERAL K Nagraj, PVSM, UYSN, ADC, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Command, arrived here on Monday on a two-day official visit to the Red Eagle Division, an army formation in Allahabad Cantonment.

On his arrival, the GOC-in-C was received by Lt General Susheel Gupta, AVSM YSM, GOC 1 Corps and Major General MS Buttar, General Officer Commanding, Red Eagle Division.

General Nagraj is an alumni of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Maratha Light Infantry. He is a graduate of the Defence Service Staff College and attended the prestigious Higher Command Course and National Defence College.

He also has a rich experience in counter insurgency operations while commanding a front line division in Jammu and Kashmir and later a General Staff of Command Headquarters in the Northern Theatre. He also commanded a corps in the western sector during Operation Parakram.

He has been the Director General Infantry and GOC-in-C of Army Training Command before assuming the present appointment.

Rich in war experience, Lt General Nagraj participated in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak conflicts, Operation Parakram and in counter insurgency operations in Sri Lanka, North East and J&K. He was awarded the ‘Uttam Yudh Seva Medal’ for his distinguished operational service of an exceptional order during Operation Rakshak/Vijay, while in command of a division in J&K and Param Vishisht Seva Medal for his service during his tenure as GOC-in-C, Army Training Command.

Lt Gen K Nagraj is also the Colonel of ‘The Assam Regiment’. Today, he visited the headquarters of the Red Eagle Division in the city where he was briefed on various aspects of operational preparedness, training of the troops and administration by Maj Gen MS Buttar, informed Wing Commander SM Sharma, Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Defence, Allahabad, in a press release onTuesday.
