Gold Cup Soccer: Bhilai, Jabalpur Brothers win

BHILAI BROTHERS and Jabalpur Brothers have won their respective matches in the Ramesh Chandra Memorial All India Gold Cup football tournament organised by Central Gymkhana Club at Christian College grounds today.

BHILAI BROTHERS and Jabalpur Brothers have won their respective matches in the Ramesh Chandra Memorial All India Gold Cup football tournament organised by Central Gymkhana Club at Christian College grounds today.

In the first match Bhilai Brothers routed Kidwai Club, Nagpur in a one-sided match. Bhilai Brothers took advantage of feeble defence of the Nagpur team and scored six goals against one of Nagpur (6-1) to sail into the second round.

Arun Kumar, Mohamed Abid and Mohamed Sabir scored two goals each while Mohamed Tanvir reduced the margin for the Nagpur team. Bhilai had good match practice to play against Mhow Football Club, Mhow tomorrow.

In the second match Jabalpur Brothers shocked Young Brothers, Akola by a solitary goal scored by Suresh to advance in the tournament. Akola playing with foreigners could not beat the strong defence of Jabalpur and lost the match by 0-1.

Tomorrow MP Police, Bhopal would clash against local team Adivasi Club, Indore while in the second match Bhilai Brothers would meet Mhow Football Club, Mhow.
