Hardcore criminal sent to 14 days of JC
A hardcore criminal, wanted in over 250 cases of loot and dacoity, was today sent to 14 days of judicial custody by a local court here, officials said today.
"A hardcore criminal, wanted in over 250 cases of loot and dacoity, was today sent to 14 days of judicial custody by a local court here," officials said on Friday.
"Zafroo, carrying a cash reward of Rs one lakh on his head, was sent to the Dasna jail after being produced before the court," they said.
"The accused was brought here today from Kolkata by Ghaziabad police team," they said.
"Acting on a tip-off, Zafroo was nabbed in Kolkata two days ago," they said.
He was wanted in over 250 cases of loot and dacoity and over 40 murder cases in all over the country.
"Meanwhile, in a separate case a student of Bachelor of Business Administration was shot at by unidentified persons in Meerut," police on Friday said here.
"Ankit, resident of Modinagar and studying in Mahavir Engineering College in Meerut, was shot at yesterday by unidentified persons," they said.
Police suspect personal enmity to be the cause behind the murder.
