She plans to lodge an FIR against the Chandigarh-based husband Yash Makkar, who runs a gym in Mohali.

Shubhpreet, who married Makkar on June 5, told HT that Makkar lied to her and told her his family lived in England. “A few days after the wedding I found out that his family lives in Chandigarh and Yash has nothing. He lied to me. He was eyeing my property,” she said.

The dancer alleges that Makkar abandoned her at their rented Mohali flat on July 21 and that his mobile phone has been switched off ever since. “He has withdrawn my fixed deposit of Rs 1.45 from the bank. Besides my ornaments, he also took away Rs 10 lakh which my mother gave us,” she said, adding “My mom also spent Rs 4 lakh on the wedding, but now I am left with nothing”.

Shubhpreet said that she intends to file for divorce and charge Makkar for fraud and sexual harassment.
