For the last several days, the 24-hour Hindi news channel IBN 7 has gone off the air in Uttar Pradesh. Sources said the state government had pressurised cable operators not to telecast the channel, as it was resorting to anti-Government stories. "There had been pressure for the last several months, not to telecast anti-state government stories," claimed one of the sources.

However, Anil Upadhyay of the UP State Cable Operators Welfare Association denied any pressure and said the channel was not being aired due to some technical reason.
