IIM-C had last hiked its fee in 2010 by 50% from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh. Chairman of the institute’s board of governors (BOG) said, “This year we decided to match our tuition fee with that of IIM-A and IIM-B. With the rise in inflation, it is high time the course fee is increased to maintain the quality of our teaching.”

At Rs 17 lakh, IIM-B now has the steepest tuition fee closely followed by IIM-A at Rs 16.6 lakh.

“We would use this excess amount in giving more scholarships. Currently, we spend about Rs 5 crore in scholarships, we want to add some more amount to that,” he added.

IIM-Ranchi has also hiked its fee from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh for the 2014-2016 academic session.

IIM-Udaipur that currently charges Rs 8 lakh will hike its fee by `1 lakh from the current session. Not only the IIMs, even XLRI Jamshedur has hiked its fee from Rs 14.6 lakh to Rs 15.6 lakh this year.
