Insurance workers plan rallies against FDI

THE BIENNIAL convention of Insurance Workers Organisation (associated with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) was organised in Varanasi on Sunday in which the members decided to conduct nationwide awareness rallies from April 5 to April 12 against privatisation and foreign direct investment in different sectors.

THE BIENNIAL convention of Insurance Workers Organisation (associated with Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) was organised in Varanasi on Sunday in which the members decided to conduct nationwide awareness rallies from April 5 to April 12 against privatisation and foreign direct investment in different sectors.

National secretary of National Organisation of Insurance Workers(NOIW) Atul Despande assured the employees that his organisation would safeguard the interests of insurance workers and apprised them about the threats of privatisation and foreign direct investment. The convention was held at the office of Life Insurance Corporation in Bhelupur .

Deshpande declared that NOIW would hold a series of awareness rallies across the country from April 5 to April 12 in this regard. He strongly criticized the policy of the Central Government for inviting foreign direct investment in retail trade sector in the country.

The other speakers expressed their apprehension that the number of unemployed youths would increase in case the government did not withdraw its decision of inviting foreign direct investments in retail trade sectors.President of Local Chapter of Insurance Workers Organisation Chandreshekhar Singh presided over the function and secretary Rajesh Dubey presented expenditures of the organistion.

Prominent among others who participated in the convention were state vice -president of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Devnath, Ayodhya Prasad Shukla, Surendra Chandra Srivastava, Ram Khelavan Gupta, Manoj Kumar Singh, RP Yadav and Alok Mishra.
