Rinat Dokerker, the second runner up at the Miss Israel beauty contest this year, said participation would enable her to "connect" to her roots.

"My Indianness gives me a distinct identity and this programme will enable me to connect to my roots," Dokerker said while speaking at a function attended by more than a hundred people of Indian origin.

"As I go to represent Israel at the Miss Europe contest, I won't just be representing this country but also the vast Indian community here", Rinat, who aspires to break into the Indian modelling scene as well some day, told PTI.

She and the others will join a sponsored three weeks internship programme. During the first week, the interns will be taken on a tourism and exposure trip to Karnataka to familiarise them with diverse aspects like art, culture, business, IT and Science and Technology.

The following week they will do internships with organisations, institutes and corporate houses in Hyderabad.

During the last week of their stay they will be attached to the Centre for the Study of the Indian Diaspora at the University of Hyderabad before participating at the Pravasi Diwas celebrations between January 6-9 in the same city.
