J&K: Army officer booked for harassing wife

A senior ranked Army officer was booked for allegedly harassing his wife in Srinagar. "An officer namely Lieutenant Colonel Anand Siddharth of Army Supply Core (ASC) was booked on Saturday by the Women Cell, Police Station on the directions of a local court for allegedly harassing his wife and forcing her to leave the house for delivering a 'handicapped' child," official sources here today said.

"An officer namely Lieutenant Colonel Anand Siddharth of Army Supply Core (ASC) was booked on Saturday by the Women Cell, Police Station on the directions of a local court for allegedly harassing his wife and forcing her to leave the house for delivering a 'handicapped' child," official sources here today said.

They said that officer's wife was not able to conceive following which the couple opted for a test tube baby technique.

"The woman, however, recently delivered a child, who turned out to be physically handicapped over which the officer started harassing her and forced her to leave the house," the sources added.

The victim's father, who was also an Army officer, approached the court for justice.

"We have registered a case against the Army officer, who was presently not in the town but he has been asked to appear in person," a police official said.
