J&K: IEDs detected; major tragedy averted

The two IEDs were noticed by security personnel during patrolling on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

A major tragedy was averted when security forces detected two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, official sources said.

The two IEDs, weighing one kg each, were noticed by the security personnel during patrolling at Hamzapora village on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Monday morning.

The two explosives were quickly defused by the bomb disposal squad, sources said.

Both the IEDs were planted on a link road adjacent to the highway. The first IED was detected around 9.15 am and the second one was noticed half-an-hour later while the area was being searched by security forces, sources added.
