Chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee Capt Amarinder Singh and working president Lal Singh, in a joint statement said, the party had not approved Jawaharkay's induction since he was allegedly involved in some cases of creating hatred between different communities and land grabbing, which were not earlier in the notice of the party.

They said, Congress is a secular party which respects the sentiments of all the people, it did not want that any leader with doubtful credentials should join the party which would hurt the sentiments of others.

Besides creating hatred among people belonging to different communities, Jawaharkay is alleged to have been involved in various cases of land grabbing also.
