Jayawardene wins Captain of the Year award

Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene claimed the prestigious 'Captain of the Year' award at a glittering function in Mumbai on Friday.
"The award is not for myself but for the entire team. I don't believe that a captain can do well without the team's contribution. A captain is only as good as the team. It's a triumph for teamwork over the last 6-8 months," he said.
"We have young players who have worked hard along with the senior players. I have enjoyed the challenge so far. All the senior players have contributed a lot to our success.
He also credited former captain Arjuna Ranatunga saying, "Arjuna is my favourite captain. He's changed the attitude of Sri Lanka cricket."
ICC President Percy Sonn praised BCCI's way of hosting the Champions Trophy, the winner of which will be decided on November 5 after clash between Australia and the West Indies.
"Our thanks to the BCCI for hosting a wonderful Champions Trophy. We are all looking forward to a most stirring final on Sunday. We would like the best team to win," he said.
Hussey said he was surprised to get the ODI player of the year award.
"I am a little bit shocked. It's a great honour. I really enjoy coming in when the team is in trouble by putting on partnerships," the left-handed batsman said.
