JD(U) leader's vehicle crushes two to death in Purnia
Two persons were today crushed to death under the wheels of the speeding jeep of JD (U) leader Mahmood Ashraf on the National Highway near Baisi, about 32 km from here, police said.

Ashraf was on way to Kishanganj from his home at Bairia village in Purnia district when the accident occurred.
One person, identified as Nezamuddin, died on the spot, while another identified as Shamshad was seriously injured and succumbed in hospital, the police said.
Following the incident angry locals blocked the NH 31 demanding that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the district magistrate visit the place and announce compensation.
When contacted, Ashraf said the accident took place as the driver lost control of his vehicle after its front tyre burst.
Ashraf said he had also been seriously injured in the mishap.
