The victim, identified as Surender Singh, runs a jewellery shop from the ground floor of his residence.

Singh was alone at his residence, as his wife Meena and son Mukul had left for Shimla on Friday night. Police suspect the victim knew the murderer.

“He was stabbed on his neck, chest, stomach, hands and legs,” a senior police official said.

The incident came to light when a woman, Lalita, came to the shop and then entered the residence as the door was open. She saw Singh in a pool of blood and raised an alarm.

Singh’s nephew rushed to the spot and finding the jeweller with multiple wounds, he informed the police who took him to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital. He was declared brought dead by doctors.

Police suspect personal rivalry to be the reason behind the murder.
