Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna has been selected for the 19th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) starting Oct 21.
The film will be shown under the Winds of Asia section and compete for the Best Asian Film award. Earlier this month, the hit film with an ensemble cast of Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta was screened at the Toronto International Film festival in the Gala Presentation section.
Released last month, the film has received lukewarm response at home but is reaping rich dividends for Johar in the overseas market.
The nine-day Tokyo festival will kickstart with Hollywood filmmaker Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers, a movie about the Battle at Iwo Jima during WWII. Japanese director Kon Ichikawa's Murder of the Inugami Clan, based on author Seishi Yokomizo's masterpiece mystery novel, has been selected as the closing film.
