From June 22, round-trip long distance flights will cost around 30 euros (37 dollars) more, while intra-European services will cost between 10 to 20 euros more, a spokesman for the German flag carrier told AFP.

The increase, the first at Lufthansa since October, is to help finance investment in new aircraft like the Airbus A380 superjumbo and to redesign first- and business-class cabins, the spokesman said.

At the same time, Lufthansa will cut its fuel surcharges by three euros for a one-way flight in Europe and six euros for a long-distance flight, he added.
