Nazari Omar, aged in his 40s, was portraying running from a "supernatural being" before jumping off the third-floor balcony of an apartment during the predawn incident Thursday in Kuala Lumpur.

Nazari missed the spot where he should have landed and suffered severe internal injuries when he hit the ground, the Star newspaper said.

Colleagues rushed him to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

"I became aware that something had gone wrong only when I saw everyone rushing towards the area where the stuntman had landed," said the movie's director, Ahmad Idham.

Nazari, who was said to be one of the best stuntmen in the industry, is survived by a wife and a 5-year-old daughter.
