Militants gun down two CRPF personnel in J-K's Anantnag district

Two CRPF personnel including an officer were killed when militants opened fire on a road opening party in South Kashmir's Anantnag district police said on Monday.

Two CRPF personnel including an officer were killed when militants opened fire on a road opening party in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said on Monday.

Militants attacked a CRPF picket at Hatmulla in Sangam area in which two CRPF personnel were martyred, a police officer said.

The deceased have been identified as assistant sub-inspector Omkar Singh and constable Tilak Raj, he added.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the militants, the officer said.

This is the second such attack in two days. Militants had on Sunday attacked a vehicle ferrying policemen for a court hearing, injuring 15 people.
