The militants lobbed the grenade at the fish farm owned by Phijam Manitomba at Awang Wabagai area, about 25km north of Imphal, along the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway-2 on Thursday.
Sources said police headquarters had alerted all security and police posts at outlying areas to step up patrolling and checking of passers-by within their jurisdiction in view of series of hurling of grenades and planting of bombs at roadsides by the militants.
They said steps would be taken to deploy mobile forces at various outlying areas and random checking of passers-by would be launched to intercept the movement of the armed ultras.
