Minor boy tries to protect sister, shot at

A 17-year-old minor boy was shot at in Sector 9 Rajnagar area of Ghaziabad on late on Saturday after he tried to chase a 22-year-old man. Police said the man the boy was chasing had been harassing his sister for the past one year.

Deepak Sharma, 17, was hit after he and some of his friends tried to chase Arvind Kumar, 22, who allegedly fired at them with a country-made weapon. Sharma was hit on his leg and was rushed to a private hospital.

Police said Kumar had been harassing Sharma’s sister for at least a year and because of him the Sharma family had moved from their previous locality to their present house in Raj Nagar Sector 23.

“Kumar continued to chase the victim’s sister at the new location. When the boy and his friends spotted Kumar near his house on Saturday, they began chasing him.

While running away, Kumar took out the gun and shot at him,” superintendent of police (SP) SS Yadav said. Police have launched a search for Kumar.
