State Youth Congress president Meenakshi Natarajan told reporters that show cause notices had been sent to both leaders, giving them 15 days' time to reply and thereafter appropriate legal action would be taken.

Accusing Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of "protecting" people making indecent remarks, she claimed that the BJP leader has "lost the confidence of the people".

Because of Vajpayee's protection, several leaders of BJP and other associate organisations have been making "indecent" remarks about Congress leaders, she alleged.

To a query, she claimed that no concrete action was taken on the matter though non-Congress parties ruled for a long time after the acquisition of Bofors field guns.

She said late Rajiv Gandhi has been given a clean chit by the court in the case and there should not be any attempts to give "unnecessary twist to the issue".
