Mumbai: Massive fire at a scrap market; no casualties reported

A massive fire broke out at a scrap market in the Goregaon area of Mumbai on Friday morning.

A major fire broke out in a scrap market in Malad area on Friday morning.

Fire brigade officials said around 8:30 am that they were still trying to completely extinguish the fire but it was under control.

No injuries or deaths have been reported so far, officials added.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire was reported around 2.28 am on Friday at Khadakpada, General AK Vaidya marg, Malad, at the scrap market. Many shops were gutted in the fire.

Eight fire engines and five jumbo water tankers were rushed to the spot, officials said, adding the exact reason behind the fire was still not known.
