Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees’ Welfare Samiti president Malay Pathak made the announcement at the first convention of the new outfit here on Wednesday.

“Vidyalya employees are not getting proper remuneration, even though they are working for 18 hours a day from 5 am to 11 pm,” he said.

Presiding over the convention, Pathak said employees were reeling under depression due to extra workload.

He said there were 20,000 employees in 544 Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country.

Pathak said though residential schools had separate staff, the same teachers discharged their duties throughout the day in Navodaya Vidyalyas.

He added the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti had not fixed working hours for teachers and other employees.

He said his organisation was fully prepared to take up cudgels for Navodaya Vidyalaya employees before the management. He also highlighted the objective behind the formation of the new organisation.

Secretary of the organisation Rakesh Pandey also spoke about various problems faced by Navodaya Vidyalaya employees.

He said due to their long working hours, employees were unable to pay attention to their families and their children’s education.

Prominent among those who addressed the convention were Hari Har Rai, Upendra Kumar Verma, Arjun Mistri and others.
