Naushad, who works as a mechanic with a private company in Sahibabad married 20-year-old Parveen Bano on March 25. She returned from her parents in home in Muzzafarnagar after the Gauna ritual(when the bride formally joins her husband at his family home) recently.
While the family members were overjoyed with the arrival of a new member, Parveen’s mother-in-law Rakhmuli Bano asked her daughters to prepare tea for the family members.
“Instead, Parveen told her that she would prepare tea and later served it to six family members. She offered milk to her husband in their bedroom. After 15-20 minutes when I returned to the house, I found six of the family members unconscious,” Naushad’s brother, Deen Mohammed said.
“Parveen was nowhere to be found and all the jewellery, related to both the families nearing Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 50,000 cash lying in the house were taken away,” Mohammed said.
The six family members, including Naushad and his parents were rushed to MMG district hospital in an unconscious state, the police said.
Superintendent of Police (SP City) A.K. Vijeta said the members were probably poisoned and presently under-treatment at the hospital.
